Examples of projects - Nieuweschans: Spa Bridge

In Nieuweschans, excavation was carried out to restore the old harbour to its former glory. A bridge was designed to link the spa, situated on a nearby island, with the mainland. The bridge was designed in the classic style, but has a modern appearance. The bridge has a 100% steel framework, beautiful steel parapets, and a synthetic deck. This low-maintenance bridge was manufactured and assembled by Nijholt and offers proof that steel can be a perfect alternative to wood. The two pillars at the end of the bridge are particularly eye-catching. These tall, corten steel constructions were also produced by Nijholt.
